Give Your Child a Solid Start in Science and the Arts
Early Discoveries explores many different avenues of learning. The M.A.D program allows young children to use a variety of textures and mixed media to create unique art pieces. Children are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings while engaging in dramatical themed activities. Each child is encouraged to feel good about themselves and their own abilities, broadening their imagination while engaging in dramatic play. Instruments, music, puppets, and other learning materials are a part of this program. Children will develop listening skills through musical ques and following instructions during demonstrations. Kindly note that in order to join the 4-year-old program, your child must turn 4 by December 31st of the current school year.
More About the M.A.D Program
This exciting program, taught by Ms. Shannon, is geared towards 4 and 5-year-old children who are creative, playful, and have a great imagination.
Music is an important key to learning by boosting memory and increasing vocabulary. Basic instrument exploration helps the children learn simple concepts such as rhythm, beat, and dynamics. We will sing songs with our activities and make up new ones by playing with rhymes.
Art is a wonderful way for children to express how they see the world and to showcase their individuality. We will learn colour theory, shapes, sculpture, and multimedia work. Everything from chalk pastels to oil paint sticks to feather and Styrofoam sculpture are explored.
Drama is about making you believe. We could take an ocean adventure with a pirate ship or climb a mountain to play with the mountain sheep or even join a circus and train the lions. Children gain confidence when they act out different scenarios.
The Super Science Program
Our Super Science program is for children between the age of 4-6 years. It is a fun and interactive introduction to science concepts with 2-hour long classes once a week. The classes are held from 12:30 am-2:30 pm with lunch supervision available as an option.
The Science Program at Early Discoveries Nursery School involves science experiments, topic-appropriate toys and crafts, and making observations of any ongoing projects. The children are introduced to the science theme of the day using videos, books, pictures or props.
All projects incorporate a ‘hands-on’ approach as much as possible. Some projects will be written up as lab reports where the students will colour the title page, guess the outcome, and record observations with simple illustrations. Others will be supported through crafts which they will take home.

All projects incorporate a ‘hands-on’ approach as much as possible. Some projects will be written up as lab reports where the students will colour the title page, guess the outcome and record observations with simple illustrations. Others will be supported through crafts which they will take home. We hope to document these experiences with lots of photos and will put together an 8”x10” collage as a year-end gift.
